    Bausch Datacom is a leading provider of communication solutions for the utility sector and state-of-the-art electronics for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. It develops a range of data communication products leveraging datacom technologies which include modems, Remote Terminal Units, Data loggers, and electronics tailored for EV charging stations. Catering primarily to a European clientele, the customer list consist of electricity network operators, meter manufacturers, EV charging collectives, and utility integrators. The company is known for its collaboration with significant players like Eandis, Enexis, Stedin, and Alliander in the Netherlands, Enel in Italy, and The New Motion-Shell. With its dedicated R&D department located in Leuven, Belgium, Bausch Datacom works closely with industry partners such as RiTTec and eNovates, its key EV customer, to innovate in firmware and back-office management software development.

    A new model for resilient, flexible energy

    Today’s centralized electricity system is under pressure: as more renewables and flexible loads come online, balancing shifts from the supply side to the demand side. An autonomous, decentralized grid is inherently more resilient – if one node fails, the rest of the system can keep running, shielded from cascading failures.

    Blockchain helps orchestrate thousands of distributed energy resources – solar roofs, batteries, EVs and flexible loads – so they can respond in real time to price signals and control instructions from utilities and grid operators.     By validating the energy produced and consumed by connected devices, blockchain‑enabled grids create a trusted record of what happens at the edge. This secure, verifiable data layer supports self‑sovereign identities for assets and actors, which in turn can strengthen national and energy security.

    In this autonomous resilience model, large‑scale centralized power plants are matched with countless decentralized small‑scale generators. Blockchain acts as the enabling technology for new markets, allowing previously unusable distributed resources to become active contributors to grid reliability and the energy transition
